Sonya Okoli, Ed.D.

Dr. Sonya Okoli is a former Chief Academic Officer & Dean of Academics with over fifteen years of executive higher education leadership experience. She is the immediate Past President of the Georgia Higher Education Alliance, Member of the Georgia Women in Higher Education and Institutional Lead for the National Association of Colleges & Universities.

As a scholar practitioner, her work has been published in several professional journals, from the Arizona State University’s Teacher College Journal, Co-Presenter Harvard University College of Education Urban Institute Conference, Presenter Black PhD Network and the American Academy of Advanced Thinking. Additionally, she served as Principal Researcher for The Wallace Foundation's "Principal Pipeline Project" an initiative which included our nation's top Urban District Superintendents and Deputy Commissioners of Education.

Dr. Okoli is devoted to teaching, research and most importantly service to our community. With this she was nominated for a seat on the Board of Directors for Ivy Preparatory Academy School for Girls an Atlanta area State Charter School. She also spends her summer serving as a guest Lecturer & Mentor at Morehouse College’s Elite Summer Math and Science Honors Academy (SMASH) an invited College Coach for Jack and Jill of America Southeastern Region and a proud member of the illustrious Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.

Outside of her scholarly and civic contributions, Dr. Okoli is a renowned Public Figure noteworthy for her Sociocultural Perspectives. As such she is often sought to speak on the topics of Servant Leadership, Race Relations & Socioeconomic Status and Politics. With this, she's appeared on several national and international television news media and radio outlets from Fox and Friends to Leading Britain’s Conversations (LBC). She is also a contributing freelance writer for both the Atlanta Journal Constitution & the Atlanta Voice.

Educational credentials: Post Doc, Multicultural & Diversity Studies-University of Georgia; Doctor of Education, Educational Leadership-Clark Atlanta University; Bachelor of Arts, Sociology minor Marriage and Family Counseling-Fisk University.
