Derrick Barbee joined Beulah Heights University in August 2003 as an adjunct faculty member teaching in the Departments of Leadership & Administration and Biblical Studies. In 2006 he became a part of the fulltime faculty in the Department of Leadership & Administration. He graduated from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio with a degree in Communications/Journalism in 1991. He moved to Atlanta in July 1993, and became a member of Total Grace Christian Center in September 1994.
Derrick is an active member of Total Grace Christian Center and has served the church in a variety of roles. He is currently serving as a Staff Pastor of Christian Formation & Discipleship, and he teaches in several capacities. He was licensed to preach the Gospel by Bishop Johnathan Alvarado, Apostle Lafayette Scales, and the eldership of Total Grace Christian Center, in January 2001. He was ordained to the pastorate by Bishop Alvarado and the eldership of Total Grace in 2006.
Derrick graduated in May 2004 from Luther Rice Seminary, in Lithonia, Georgia with a Master of Arts degree in Ministry. He also has additional graduate studies in Human Resources Management from the University of Akron. Presently he is pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at Churcho of God Theological Seminary in Cleveland, Tennessee. His future educational plans include obtaining a Ph.D. He also has 12 years of experience in human services delivery, working in a variety of agencies and capacities with diverse groups of people throughout metropolitan Atlanta.
Derrick’s greatest desire is to see Christ formed in others by using both an academic and pastoral approach. He is an influencer and thought-leader for the purposes of God. Derrick is happily married to Tracy Marie Barbee and they have three children, Trenia Danielle, Derrick Bouvier II, and Serenity Dominique. Together, they strive to model a Godly family.
