LIBRARY STAFF (full-time)

MISSION STATEMENT

Barth Memorial Library serves to provide students and faculty access to various learning and teaching resource and information that support a Bible-centered Christian quality education in order to train, equip and prepare students as relevant Christian leaders for ministry and the marketplace.

OBJECTIVES

  • To maintain organized library resources which are readily accessible to users

  • To assist users in locating and utilizing library resources.
  • To provide a positive learning and research environment.

LIBRARY POLICIES

1. University ID/LIBRARY CARDS

  • University ID/Library cards are issued at the time of registration in the Library at no charge. Returning students must validate their university ID/Library cards each semester.
  • Lost or damaged universtiy ID/Library cards will be replaced for a $10.00 fee.
  • Alumni can maintain privileges by obtaining an Alumni Library Card for $25.00 per year.
  • Library card privileges are non-transferable.
  • Borrowing privileges are for card holders only.

2. CIRCULATION

  • Borrower is responsible for the proper upkeep of any checked-out library material.  In the event of any damage or loss, the borrower must pay the cost of the repair or replacement as determined by the Librarian.
  • All reference materials must remain in the library and are not available for check out.
  • At the end of each semester, a library hold will be placed on student accounts with any overdue library materials, fines, repair or replacement  costs.  This results in a withholding of the student’s grades and registration process for the  next semester.

3. BOOKS

  • Book borrowing period is for 14 days.
  • Card holders may check out a maximum of 4 books per day, not to exceed 12 books during any given time period.
  • Books may be renewed for 14 additional days, provided students demand for those books does not exist.
  • Maximum book check out time is 28 days during a semester.
  • Renewals and returns must be made in person. No renewals done over phone.

4. CD/DVD/VIDEO/AUDIO CASSETTE

  • CD/DVD/Video/Audio cassette borrowing period is for 3 days.
  • CD/DVD/Video/Audio cassette may be renewed for 3 additional days, provided students demand for those materials does not exist.
  • Maximum check-out time for any CD/DVD/Video/Audio Cassette is 6 days during a semester.
  • Only one CD/DVD/Video/Audio Cassette is checked out per day, not to exceed 2 CDs/ DVDs/Videos/Audio Cassettes during any given period.
  • Renewals and returns must be made in person. No renewals done over phone.

5. COMPUTER USAGE

  • Library computer usage is provided to staff, faculty, and current students-library card holders only.  No outsiders including children are permitted to use these computers.
  • Computers are for Internet research, word processing, and e-mail access only.
  • Personal chat/business transactions, gambling, or viewing pornographic or any objectionable material over the internet are strictly prohibited.

6. BEHAVIOR

  • No food or beverages are permitted inside the Library. Only water is permitted.
  • Cell phone usage is prohibited. Keep cell phone and pager on vibrate mode. Exit the Library to answer any calls.
  • All library users are required to maintain proper discipline, order, and quietness.
  • All visitors/guests (non-card holders)must take permission from the front desk before using the Library.
  • This is a non-smoking environment.

7. CHILDREN

  • Students/Card holders are responsible for their children. No child under 15 is allowed to stay in the Library unsupervised at any time.
  • Children are not permitted to run, play, make noise or mishandle any library material or use any computer.
  • Students/Card holders are responsible for any damage caused by their children to the Library property.
  • Library does not provide any baby-sitting facilities.

OVERDUE FINES

  • Book fines are $0.30 per day.
  • CD/DVD/Video/Audio cassette fines are $0.50 per day.
  • No grace period is given.
  • No fines are charged for Sundays or holidays when the Library is closed.
